Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") is part of our Terms of Service ("Terms") and should be read alongside them at https://therecipesociety.com/terms. If you do not agree with this Policy or the Terms, do not use our Services. Your continued use of our Services signifies your acceptance of this Policy.

WHO WE ARE

We are Novelty Technologies, LLC, doing business as The Recipe Society ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), a company registered in Georgia, United States at 11720 Amber Park Dr, Ste 160 PMB 1056, Alpharetta, GA 30009. We operate the website https://therecipesociety.com (the "Site"), the mobile application The Recipe Society (the "App"), and related products and services that refer or link to this Policy (collectively, the "Services").

USE OF THE SERVICES

When you use the Services, you warrant that you will comply with this Policy and with all applicable laws. You may not:

• Systematically retrieve data or other content from the Services to create or compile, directly or indirectly, a collection, compilation, database, or directory without written permission from us;
• Scrape, harvest, or collect user data or content from the Services, including usernames, email addresses, or other users' health or profile information;
• Make any unauthorized use of the Services, including creating accounts by automated means or under false pretenses;
• Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security-related features of the Services, including features that prevent or restrict the use or copying of content or enforce usage limits;
• Circumvent usage limits, access controls, or subscription requirements, including by creating multiple accounts to abuse free trials or promotional offers or to evade enforcement actions;
• Engage in unauthorized framing of or linking to the Services;
• Trick, defraud, or mislead us or other users, especially in any attempt to learn sensitive account information such as user passwords;
• Make improper use of our support services or submit false reports of abuse or misconduct;
• Engage in any automated use of the system, such as using scripts to send comments or messages, or using any data mining, robots, or similar data-gathering and extraction tools;
• Interfere with, disrupt, or create an undue burden on the Services or the networks and services connected to them;
• Attempt to impersonate another user or person, use the username of another user, or misrepresent yourself as Company staff or as a healthcare professional;
• Use any information obtained from the Services to harass, abuse, or harm another person;
• Use the Services as part of any effort to compete with us, or for any revenue-generating endeavor or commercial enterprise except as we expressly permit;
• Decipher, decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer any of the software comprising the Services, except as expressly permitted by applicable law;
• Harass, annoy, intimidate, or threaten any of our employees or agents;
• Delete copyright or other proprietary-rights notices from any content;
• Upload or transmit (or attempt to upload or transmit) viruses, Trojan horses, or other malicious code, or any material that interferes with any party's uninterrupted use of the Services;
• Upload or transmit any passive or active information-collection or transmission mechanism (such as web bugs, tracking pixels, or similar devices);
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data, or intercept data not intended for you;
• Manipulate or falsify nutrition data, food logs, or health information in a way intended to mislead other users or defeat safety features;
• Use the Services or any content obtained from them (other than your own content) for text- or data-mining, or to develop, train, fine-tune, or improve any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model, whether directly or through a third party;
• Sell or otherwise transfer your account or profile, or share your account credentials with others;
• Use the Services for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.

AI FEATURES

When you use the AI-powered features of the Services, you additionally warrant that you will not:

• Use AI features to generate content that is harmful, misleading, or medically dangerous, including content that promotes disordered eating, unsafe weight-loss practices, or misuse of medications or supplements;
• Attempt to bypass, disable, or degrade the safety systems, content filters, rate limits, or crisis-detection features that apply to AI interactions;
• Use prompts designed to extract other users' data, our system instructions, or confidential information;
• Use AI outputs to violate any law, this Policy, or any third party's rights, or represent AI outputs as professional medical or dietetic advice;
• Access AI features through automated means or resell AI outputs as a service.

We may restrict or suspend access to AI features, or take the other enforcement actions described below, for misuse of AI features. The consequences will depend on the nature and severity of the violation and your history with the Services.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

The Recipe Society community is a supportive space for sharing recipes, nutrition tips, and healthy-living inspiration. When you participate in community features (recipes, posts, comments, groups, messaging, reviews), you must follow these guidelines:

• Be respectful. Treat other members with kindness and respect. Harassment, bullying, hate speech, and personal attacks are not tolerated. We celebrate diverse dietary choices and lifestyles.
• Share responsibly. Only share content you have the right to share. Give credit to original creators. Do not post copyrighted content without permission.
• No medical advice. Do not provide medical diagnoses or treatment recommendations, and do not claim to cure health conditions. The Services provide general nutrition information, not medical advice. Encourage others to consult healthcare professionals.
• No eating-disorder content. Do not share content that promotes, glorifies, or encourages eating disorders, extreme fasting, or unhealthy relationships with food.
• No misinformation. Do not share false or misleading health, nutrition, or diet claims. Avoid promoting fad diets, dangerous weight-loss methods, or unverified supplement claims.
• No spam or self-promotion. Do not post spam, product advertising, multi-level-marketing or pyramid-scheme promotions, or excessive self-promotion. Recipe sharing is welcome; sales pitches are not.
• Keep it appropriate. Do not post sexually explicit content, graphic violence, or illegal content.
• Protect privacy. Do not share another person's personal information without their consent.
• Report concerns. If you see content that violates these guidelines, report it using the in-app Report option or by emailing support@therecipesociety.com.

CONTRIBUTIONS

"Contributions" means any content or materials you post, share, upload, submit, or otherwise provide on or through the Services, including recipes, photos, posts, comments, messages, reviews, product recommendations, and profile information.

We may, but are under no obligation to, review or moderate Contributions, and we expressly exclude our liability for any loss or damage resulting from any user's breach of this Policy.

When you make a Contribution, you warrant that:

• You are the creator and owner of the Contribution, or you have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, releases, and permissions to submit it and to authorize us and other users to use it as contemplated by the Services and our Terms;
• Your Contribution does not and will not infringe the intellectual-property, privacy, or publicity rights of any third party, and you have the consent of each identifiable individual person in the Contribution to use their name or likeness;
• Your Contribution complies with applicable law and is not false, inaccurate, or misleading.

You will not post, transmit, or upload any Contribution that:

• Breaches any applicable law, regulation, court order, or contractual or legal duty, or promotes or facilitates fraud or illegal activity;
• Is defamatory, obscene, offensive, hateful, insulting, intimidating, bullying, abusive, threatening, or sexually explicit, or is otherwise objectionable as determined by us;
• Promotes violence, terrorism, or physical harm against any person or group, or promotes self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating;
• Involves child sexual abuse material, violates any law protecting minors, or solicits personal information from or exploits anyone under 18;
• Is discriminatory based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age;
• Contains false or dangerous health, nutrition, or medical claims;
• Contains any statement, formula, direction, recipe, or instruction that involves a reasonably foreseeable risk of injury to those who follow it;
• Misrepresents your identity or affiliation, or misleads anyone as to the origin of the Contribution;
• Contains unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, pyramid schemes, chain letters, spam, or other solicitation, including paid content that is not disclosed as required by applicable advertising law and our sponsorship-disclosure features.

PROHIBITED GOODS AND SERVICES

You may not use our Services to offer, promote, sell, or otherwise make available to others any good or service involving:

• Items that promote, encourage, facilitate, or instruct others how to engage in illegal activity;
• Controlled substances, narcotics, steroids, drug paraphernalia, cigarettes or tobacco products, or alcohol;
• Prescription medications or medical devices;
• Medical nutrition therapy or clinical dietitian services offered without the credentials required by applicable law;
• Unregulated dietary supplements promoted with unverified health claims;
• Weight-loss products or services claiming guaranteed results;
• Content or products that promote eating disorders;
• Raw, unpasteurized, or otherwise potentially hazardous foods where their sale is restricted by applicable law;
• Goods or services directed at or marketed to minors (the Services are for adults 18 and older);
• Multi-level-marketing or pyramid-scheme promotions;
• Weapons, firearms, ammunition, or regulated weapon parts or accessories;
• Sexually oriented materials or services;
• Stolen goods, goods you do not control or possess, or products or services identified by government agencies as likely fraudulent;
• Any transaction or activity that requires governmental pre-approval you have not obtained.

REVIEWS AND RATINGS

When your Contribution is a review or rating, you also agree that:

• You have firsthand experience with the recipe, meal, or item being reviewed;
• Your review reflects your genuine experience and does not contain false or misleading statements;
• You are not affiliated with competitors when posting negative reviews, and you do not have an undisclosed material connection (for example, being the seller or creator) when posting positive reviews;
• You do not draw legal conclusions about conduct in your reviews; and
• You will not organize or participate in campaigns encouraging others to post reviews, whether positive or negative.

We may accept, reject, or remove reviews at our discretion.

CONTENT MODERATION

We use a combination of automated screening and human review to enforce this Policy, including the Community Guidelines above:

1. Automated screening. User-generated content may be automatically screened by third-party content-moderation services (for text and images) for prohibited material such as spam, hate speech, violence, explicit content, and other policy violations.
2. User reports. You can report content through the in-app Report option or by emailing support@therecipesociety.com. Reports may be reviewed by us, and we take action where appropriate.
3. Manual review. Flagged content may be reviewed by us to determine whether it violates our policies.

Enforcement actions. The consequences for violating this Policy vary with the severity of the breach and your history on the Services. Typical escalation is:

• First violation: content removal and a warning notification;
• Second violation: content removal, warning, and temporary posting or account restrictions;
• Severe or repeated violations: account suspension or termination.

Content involving dangerous health misinformation, harassment, illegal activity, or harmful medical advice may be removed, and the associated account terminated, without prior warning. We may also notify law enforcement or pursue legal action where we believe there is a genuine risk to an individual or a threat to public safety. Copyright violations are handled under the DMCA process described in our Terms and Privacy Policy, including our repeat-infringer policy.

We may enforce, or decline to enforce, this Policy in our sole discretion; declining to act on one violation is not a waiver of our right to act on it or any other violation later. We exclude our liability, to the maximum extent permitted by law, for actions we take in response to breaches of this Policy.

APPEALS AND REMOVAL OF LEGITIMATE CONTENT

If you believe your content was removed or blocked in error, you may request human review by contacting support@therecipesociety.com with the content ID or title affected and a brief explanation. We aim to review the decision with human involvement and respond as soon as practicable; the content may remain down while we conduct the review. We do not guarantee that any specific moderation decision will be reversed.

DISCLAIMER

We are under no obligation to monitor users' activities or Contributions, and this Policy's moderation processes describe rights we may exercise, not duties we assume. We disclaim responsibility for any user's misuse of the Services and for content created, stored, or transmitted by users. If we become aware that content violates this Policy, we may remove it, restrict the account responsible, and report the breach to law enforcement or regulatory authorities where appropriate.
