Our commitment to making The Recipe Society usable by everyone

Novelty Technologies, LLC is committed to making The Recipe Society — our mobile apps and this website — accessible to as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technologies. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we work to improve the experience continually.

Conformance target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make digital content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.

We believe The Recipe Society substantially conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Some content may not yet fully conform, and we are actively working to address any gaps we identify or that are reported to us.

What we do to support accessibility

  • Semantic structure and descriptive labels to help interactive elements be announced by screen readers
  • Support for platform screen readers — VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android
  • Text colors chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against the app's primary background and surface colors
  • Touch targets sized for easier interaction
  • Accessible dialogs and modals with appropriate focus handling
  • Support for the system text-size and appearance (including dark mode) settings on your device
  • Automated and manual accessibility testing as part of our development process

Compatibility

The Recipe Society is designed to work with recent versions of major browsers, operating systems, and the assistive technologies built into iOS and Android. If you use an older browser or device, some features may not work as intended.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some limitations may remain. In particular, content provided by third-party services embedded in our website (such as forms and consent tools) is partly outside our direct control and may not fully conform. Where we become aware of a barrier, we work to provide an accessible alternative — for example, you can always reach us by email for anything a form does not let you complete.

Tell us the page or feature involved, what happened, and the device, browser, or assistive technology you were using, and we will do our best to help and to resolve the issue.
